If you want software that works, doesn't cost an arm and a leg, contains no spyware and just plain doesn't suck - you're at the right place. If you don't see a program listed here, it is probably not a good idea to download it. However if you know of a good piece of software that's not listed, please let me know so I can test it. If it passes all the testing, it will be added. I am always updating and testing free software. I will not add something here unless I approve of it. None of these carry ANY - spyware, ad-ware , pop-ups. All "trial" software includes FULL functionality. If your software made it to this list, congratulations. We appreciate your work.

Avast: Another free Anti-Virus software. Just as good as AVG. However this one is more system intensive than AVG or NOD.
Bitdefender: Popular anti-virus software- Free of charge. (Free- NOT real time scanning -only manual scanning)
ClamWin: Small and non-intrusive anti-virus. Like Bitdefender (Free- NOT real time scanning -only manual scanning)
AntiVir: An anti-virus that has been around for a long time - still free for home use.

AVG AntiSpyware : Clean annoying malware such as spyware, Trojans and hijackers. Great compliment to an anti-virus.
MalwareBytes: Since programs like Ad-Aware have become.. crap, this is a GREAT replacement for cleaning.
CounterSpy: Probably the best shield against spyware. The best database cleaner there is. Period. 30day trial.
Comodo BOClean: This is more of a "real time" (run the the background) anti-spyware. Not a fan of TSR's, but this works.

HijackThis: Tool to find out if there is "hijack" software on your system. Use the logfile analyzer if your not sure.

Zwei-Stein: A non-linear, non-destructive video compositing and editing system which offers many advanced features.
DAZ|Studio: 3D figure posing and animation software package. Think Nvidia "Dawn" creation. (like).
ABC VideoRoll: Easy to use, free video editing. Company no longer exists and some experience bugs with it. Seems ok.
WAX: High performance and flexible video compositing and special effects software. Look at there other free software too!
VirtualDub: Great for capturing and editing your .AVI movies and converting to Divx. Many more features.
ZS4: Combine a variety of media types (currently photos, videos and audio files) into one (or more) output file(s).
Movica: a graphical user interface to edit .mpg and .wmv.

Enemy Territory: A free and great multi player FPS game. The best in my opinion. Find me [GF]Burke. (system intensive)
Alien Arena: Free client for the online deathmatch. Game includes 26 levels across five different game modes. (system intensive)
Americas Army: A very good FPS game that is absolutely free. Play online, sharpen your skills. (system intensive)
Tux Racer: Race downhill on your belly. A solid and pretty game.
Frets on Fire: A free "Guitar Hero". Just turn your keyboard around and use it as a guitar. Very fun.
SuperTux: Basically it's Super Mario Bro's 3. Just the linux penguin instead of a plumber.
Desktop Tower Defense: A very fun flash game. It will suck hours from your day.
TankTrouble: This nice classic tank shooter brings back memories for a second, then you see new things - very fun
PitFighters: Accually, this is about to come out. Seems to be like CS or even Team Fortress type of play. (system intensive)
TurboTanks: Yes, "Tanks" from the Atari 2600. Web based (no install needed). Memories.
RumbleBox: A fast paced 3D action beat-em-up. Very interesting. Quite fun.
Netrek: multi-player battle simulation with a Star Trek theme, team-oriented strategy game with a first person perspective.
Pocket Tanks: Remember Gorilla with the bananas? This is an all new 3D graphical war with a friend or PC-Turn based fighting.
LinCity: Like SimCity? Well, this is the OpenSource free version. For all platforms. Fun times.
Civilization II: It's "just like" old skewl Civ. Under the GPL licence. Open is everything.
Battle for Wesnoth: A turn-based strategy game with a fantasy theme. Fight battles or take hand in any number of other adventures.
BZFlag: A free multiplayer battle tank action game. They even have a CTF leage.
Aqua Bubble: "Tetris like", launch colored bubbles to match like colors.
FlightGear: is an open-source, multi-platform flight simulator.
Head over Heels: More of a platformer (ala Mario). Graphic and cool.
Think Tanks: Comical fast action. Play against online buddies or against the PC.
Ricochet Xtreme: "Breakout" like. - Cool graphics.
SubmarineS: Blowing up stuff is cool.
Dark Throne: massively multiplayer online fantasy game you can play right through your web browser.
PacMan in the office: Yes, a "mini" Pac-Man game.
SolorWolf: is an action/arcade game written in Python. Gather blocks and avoid fireballs.
Many Flash games: Don't need to download or install, just fun flash games. Flash - 1 pop-up.
